The Duquesa de Cardona is a newly opened hotel in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. The building itself dates back to 16th century when it was in the hands of some Barcelona's wealthiest and most famous families. The latest development of the property was in mid 1800s when there was a strong neoclassical influence. The hotel tries to capture some of this magnificent past with 55 rooms and some very eye catching and ornate public areas. It has also added a small plunge pool and sun terrace on the roof with expansive views across the port and marina. There is a terrace bar (open in summer), and an a la carte restaurant located in the penthouse. This new and refined hotel offers luxury and location in an authentically traditional setting.
