The Gaudi hotel is in a perfect location, being situated just off La Rambla, but my room was situated on the first floor on the inside of the hotel, and was so dark and dingy,I had to switch on the lights even during the day.I did not sleep very well at all,as the bed was very uncomfortable and an extractor fan went on and off all night.

Barcelona is a fantastic, lively city, with so much to see and do.It doesn't matter if your 5 or 105, there is something for everyone.

We had a great day on the Touristica open top buses-not cheap but a good day's entertainment.

we had booked two rooms,we returned to our rooms at 2.30 in the morning.a guy pretending to be a cleaner tried to gain entry to both rooms.one of our party reported this to the night porter, who had poor english and more or less dismissed the incident. the following morning i reported it to the manager on duty who said the guy had a few drinks and was lost ,trying to find his room.if this was true ,why was he carrying a mop and bucket in his hand, saying that he was there to clean the bathrooms.maybe this is something you should look into as i feel that the night porter was in some way complicit in some sort of illegal activity as he would have had to let this guy in and the manager was trying to cover this up.

A slightly old-fashioned, friendly hotel, well-run and good in every way except the lifts - one was out of commission and the other rather temperamental...
awaiting imminent replacement, they said. Amazing to find ourselves in a room fronting the Palau Guell - it felt special. Downside was the noise of partying locals and visitors through the night! But great sense of place.
Top Tip
Best restaurant we found was called Sinatra - five minutes walk across the Ramlas and Plaza Real; excellent food and service at sensible prices.

This was the second time I had stayed at this hotel and I will be going back in the new year. The hotel is in the best possible location, about half way down the ramblas. We were not bothered by streetnoise and found that the view was brilliant, we were on the fifth floor. The first room we were allocated smelt strongly of cigarettes as the previous guest smoked but the hotel staff changed the room very quickly giving us a choice of five other rooms. Fantastic.

Finding a restaurant that had no smoking was very difficult on the ramblas, but we did find a brilliant wee turkish kebab place on the same street as the gaudi. It is the third one in from las ramblas, nearest to the guell house, the food is delicious we found ourselves going back every night.
