1898 is a very stylish hotel in a great location. Our room on the 5th floor was spotlessly clean and extremely quiet. The room was slightly smaller than I had expected, but the attention to detail in the rooms is great (mood lighting, choice of pillow softness, lovely products in bathroom etc) and the breakfasts were really good with a brilliant choice of fresh fruit in particular. The roof-top terrace with pool is great for unwinding after a hectic day exploring and has outstanding views over the city. Treatments at the spa are good, although a bit pricey, and staff can be slow to respond and somewhat aloof but it's a really nice hotel and I'd definitely recommend it. La Rambla is an excellent base for exploring Barcelona.

Top Tip:
Our favourite district was definitely the Born area behind the port. Lots of unusual and quirky shops, lovely tapas bars and the beautiful Santa Maria del Mar church.
